Recipe for Scale Up Business from Family Q Catering to #KeepGrowing

A recipe for business scale up from Family Q Catering to #Continue to Grow – Family Q Catering is a caterer located in Jakarta. This caterer was established in 2012 and serves various needs, ranging from catering for school children, office workers, weddings, recitations, and social gatherings to household needs.

According to Dessy Sagita Herawaty, owner of Family Q Catering, her business #KeepsGrowth is currently growing quite well. She conveyed this when attending live streaming, namely Behind the Kitchen Edition of Taniversary last Friday (23/9).

Starting from Catering for School Children

On that occasion, Dessy shared some tips for running her home catering business. She told me the initial steps when building Family Q Catering. According to Dessy, at first, she only opened catering for the children’s school needs. “Initially, our business only provided catering for school children,” she explained.

Gradually, Dessy tried to find her fortune in other catering business lines. She expanded her catering market segmentation to adults. “I like the decoration, and I want this catering to growing even more. So I expanded my segment into the office segment. Then proceed to the event, corporate. Yes, the business segment has changed to being for teenagers to the elderly, not children anymore,” she said.

Until now, Dessy has served various companies for employee food needs, to gatherings. Not infrequently, she is also overwhelmed because there is always a flood of orders. “Over time, we became focused on the office, and were a bit overwhelmed. One of them is from the banking industry, then there is also a private company. Usually order for lunch and dinner employees, events office gatherings. But, we also don’t rule out events such as personal weddings, graduations, social gatherings, recitations, and others,” Dessy explained.

Business Analysis Before Starting a Catering Business

According to Dessy, the main key to starting is not only from the capital. Capital is an important component, but it can be overcome by using low capital and starting small. “For large capital, it can be put aside first, the important thing is to use your capital. Small pieces become hills,” Dessy explained.

For Dessy, the main component that catering businesses must have when starting a business is business analysis. This business analysis can be started with an internal analysis first. According to Dessy, internal analysis is to find out the passion and conscience of the business owner. “Before starting a business, we should first analyze internally, for example, what passion, then what our inner voice is. Because it’s important to follow what your heart tells you,” she explained.

After doing an internal analysis, we will know our passion and interests. From that interest, we can find out which target market is suitable. Dessy added that we already know the target market. The next step is to analyze the potential of the target market. “Find out how the segment is, is the turnover good or not, does it support it, do you think it can accelerate?” said the owner of Family Q Catering.

If the target market analysis has been obtained, we can determine how much capital we need. Then proceed with looking for networking. “Don’t be afraid, sustenance doesn’t knock. If there is a way, there must be a way. Follow passion and heart,” said Dessy assuring the live streaming.

Maintaining the Quality of Cuisine

One of the messages Dessy conveys to business people is to maintain the quality of cuisine. According to him, achieving something is important, but it is more important to maintain something. “In my opinion, maintaining quality is more difficult than achieving”, she said.

Because of that, she admits that Dessy has many clients because she consistently maintains the quality of her food. She told me that she always learns new recipes daily to fulfill her clients’ wishes. “I’m still browsing, looking for recipes. We are also obliged to develop the menu. Because we have to be able to deliver hundreds of menus. And every day that must have changed. That’s why I have a small library filled with books with thousands of recipes,” Dessy said.

Dessy also advised the audience not to hesitate to join the training. According to him, the training is very good for business actors to add insight and continue to develop their business.

In addition to attending training, maintaining the quality of food is also Dessy’s mainstay. She admits that the key to the quality of her cooking is the use of fresh raw materials. Dessy got these fresh raw materials from her flagship supplier, TaniHub Food Solutions.

“Cooperation with TaniHub has made me feel millions of pleasures. I not only like it, but I am also in love with TaniHub Food Solutions because the goods are of good quality, 100% fresh, and ordering is easy. I just call, order, and the goods will arrive because there is an agent who always helps us. So we are very spoiled!” she explained.
