The pandemic disrupted every industry, including the F&B sector. Sudden tightening and restrictions of dining-in got the industry into setbacks and got them going into dark times. A lot of F&B businesses ceased their operations due to the situation.

Business owners are forced to restrategize their businesses to survive. A digital revolution then rose in the F&B sector and brought the industry to a new landscape. In 2020, the industry recorded a 3% growth and worked as one of the supporting sectors for Indonesia’s economic growth.

In addition, according to joint research in Indonesia, every culinary business that got into the OFD application measured an increment of sales revenue by 50%, despite restrictions on dining in. Understandably, the sector became the largest contributor in the non-oil and gas sector to Indonesia’s 2021 economic growth.

In compliance with TaniHub Group’s recent research, around 58% of consumers enjoy ordering foods and beverages through the OFD platform. That being said, OFD worked as a silver lining to the industry.

Despite the slowdowns, the F&B industry managed to thrive and survive. The need for food and drinks doesn’t come to a halt, even when the crisis strikes. The sector even grew to the point where it became essential in supporting Indonesia’s economic upswing, as it carries a vast and promising market.
